Detroit Commercial Photo & Video Q & A ...

Pricing & Payment Q & A

Generally there are 2 Photography Pricing Models!

  • The first method is the Day Rate Model. This is preferred by some because you know exactly what your investment will be depending on the amount of days, or 1/2 days in some situations, plus add-ons, expenses, and licensing fees. The normal day rate is generally in the area of $2000 - $2500 1/2 day rate $1500 - $ 1800! While the day rate is most common model, the fee is based on the day or 1/2 day. Day rate's very, but commonly can be $2500 or more a day!

  • The second method is the Per Photo Model. This is our preferred model. It is Simple, whether it takes 1 day or a week you'll be billed on the amount of photos, plus add-ons, and expenses. You get what you pay for. For example, if you have two products and you’d like 3 photos of each we would provide a quote for a total of 6 photos.

Our pricing is based on the total number of photos, plus upgrades, plus expenses i.e. hand model or travel expenses.

How much does product photography cost?

The total cost of a project depends on the volume of photos/videos in your project, combined with any optional add-ons that you’d like. We work on a volume basis. Like apples buy an apple, or a bag, or a bushel, the higher the volume the lower the price per apple.

You'll be given a "ball park estimate" on our initial chat but given an exact NO SURPRISES exact quote after seeing your products, prior to shoot date!

As an example, let’s say you’re a T shirt company with 5 T shirts and you want the front and back of each photographed. That would be 10 photos plus any add-ons to determine the total project cost, excluding shipping costs.

How are payments processed?

Before starting your project we will send you a detailed quote which includes a payment link which you can use to submit payment electronically. We accept all major credit cards as well as PayPal.

I have several small projects, do I qualify for a quantity rate?

For the purpose of quantity rates, each project is priced separately. However, if you’re able to combine your small projects into one big project where we can shoot them all at the same time, then you would be able to get the quantity rate.

In most cases, yes! However, keep in mind, return shipping is limited to US addresses only. The cost of return shipping will be quoted on your estimate & invoice. You can also provide a return shipping label enclosed with your products, or your UPS or FedEx account number if you have one.

Also, at your direction we can donate your products to local charity or discard them if you don’t need them returned.

I have a product that is very large. Can you shoot it?

Probably! But for products that are larger than 3 feet on the longest side, please contact us before shipping. We may have to arrange an on location shoot at your location. Because, we do NOT have a roll-up door, and do NOT have a loading dock or fork lift. Please ensure freight shipments are delivered via a truck equipped with a lift gate. We're equipped with a dolly ONLY! Products larger than 3 feet on the longest side are subject to an additional charge relative to the size of the product.
